Abstract:
In the life of Thomas Hardy’ by Thomas Hardy’ he describes how his life at that time was a life twisted of three stands the professionals life the scholar life and the rustic life combined in the twenty four of one day. Critics differ as to which of hardy's novel is his greatest. "Tess of the D’Urberville & Return of the Native”. Color is the reflection of that destiny. We know, character may be destiny this is true of shakespeare but in hardy destiny is character. This destiny is reflected by red color the color of blood. Hardy uses the conventional symbolism of red in characterization, sometimes ironically. Red is used to reveal a characters emotions motives and fate. While color symbolizes purity honesty truth and love, green for innocence, pink is a mixture of innocence and sinfulness and black for death.
