dc.description.abstract Spinning IS the most important component of the textile industry that has recently come to occupy a significant position in the country's manufacturing sector. The ability of the textile sector to raise the net foreign exchange earnin gs from clothing expor ts through increased value addition hinges essentially upon the growth of the spinning sub-sector, it being the first link in the chain of backward lin kage with the RMG industr y. The spinning sub sector, however, suffers from a myriad of problems. This study is intended to examine and suggest solution to these problems, and devise an effective support mechanism to enable the local industry to overcome the disable stages it currently suffers and improve its com petitive position in the local and the world markets . en_US
