dc.description.abstract The objective of the research work was to investigate the impact of Calcium and Vitamin D supplement on the dissolution profile of Rosutin® 10 mg (Rosuvastatin Calcium) tablet. The dissolution test was performed by using distilled water (as dissolution medium) with USP dissolution apparatus II. The amounts of drugs released were measured using UV spectroscopy. A standard curve equation of Rosuvastatin was established for the calculation of percent dissolved amount of drug. The dissolution of individual Rosuvastatin (Rosutin® 10 mg) tablets and also combination with the Calcium and Vitamin D supplement drugs were determined after 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 minutes. Six samples of each individual Rosuvastatin (Rosutin® 10 mg) tablets and combination with the Calcium and Vitamin D supplement drugs were subjected to determine the dissolution profile. After an hour the average percent dissolved amount of individual Rosutin® and Rosutin® with Calcium and Vitamin D supplement were respectively 76.235 % and 61.416 %. From the result it was assumed that Calcium and Vitamin D supplement has extreme effect on the dissolution of Rosutin®. The dissolution rate of Rosutin® was decreased by the effect of Calcium and Vitamin D supplement may be due to the common-ion effect. As Calcium and Vitamin D supplement has the extreme effect on the dissolution profile of Rosuvastatin Calcium, they should not be used concomitantly. en_US
