dc.description.abstract Abroma augusta Linn (Sterculiaceae), commonly known as Ulatkambal(Bengali). This plant is used as medicinal plant for its distinct pharmacological activity. Chemical analysis of this p lant has noticed various chemical properties. The aim of this study was to investigate the antinociceptive effect of the ethyl acetate extract of A.augusta in acetic acid-induced writhing test in mice. The result suggests that the extract has exhibited significant (p<0.05) analgesic effects, which we ' re comparable with standard drugs. The bark extracts at 500 and 250 mg/kg showed significant reduction in acetic acid induced writhing in mice with a maximum effect of65.27% reduction at 500 mg/kg dose. en_US
