Performance Appraisal of Southeast Bank Limited, A Comparative Study on Gulshan Branch

Abstract

Banking is a business, which is run on the confidence and trust of people. This confidence enjoyed by banks and enables the bank to mobilize funds from various sources. The main function of bank may broadly be divided into two categories. Firstly, borrowing money from : public by accepting deposits and secondly, lending the money to public for development of trade, commerce, agriculture and industry. The profitability of a bank always depends on the efficient management of fund and exploring the genuine invested to produce the maximum income. Apart from borrowing money and lending others, bank work as a financial institution by financing to wherever needs to be financed. Structured finance comes as a service that generally involves highly complex financial transactions offered for companies with very unique financing needs. These financing needs usually do not match conventional financial products such as a loan. But everything is finally evaluated by the performance of the bank. This is why performance evaluation of a bank is very crucial in the process of finance. Being a student of Finance, my focus was more on performance appraisal of the bank based on the financial indicators.Southeast Bank Limited ensures that the amount they financed is given to the right person. For this, SEBl follows a strict rules and regulation. Financing operation starts from selection of borrower from field level and ends with disbursing sanctioned amount after proper credit analysis and documentation. For all these SEBl follows strict regulation which is approved by the Bangladesh Bank.
